Eight microphones and a dedicated processor aimed at low frequencies is what puts this first. Reviewer consensus places it at or near the top of its class for engine drone and tunnel roar, and an Amazon rating of 4.4 across a review count in the forty-thousands says the consensus is not a thin one.
Thirty hours covers a long-haul return with the taxi rides at both ends. LDAC and multipoint are both here, so a phone and a laptop stay connected at once.
The successor arrived and the price fell. That is the reason to buy it now rather than the reason to skip it โ the street price has run between $278 and $350, and sale events have taken it below $200.
The drawback: it does not fold. The XM4's cups folded inward; the XM5 only lies flat, so the case is bulky and a packed carry-on notices. Being the previous generation also puts it on an eventual path to discontinuation, and readers with smaller heads repeatedly mention headband pressure.

This costs about a quarter of the other two and holds the longest battery in the group while doing it. Anker claims 40 hours with cancellation on; SoundGuys measured 42 hours and 57 minutes, which is the rare case of a tested figure beating the printed one.
Five minutes of charging returns four hours of playback. That matters exactly once โ at the gate, after boarding has been called โ and it is worth more there than most premium features are anywhere.
LDAC and multipoint both survive at this price, which is unusual. Street prices near $79 are ordinary and sale events have reached $69.
The drawback: the tuning leans hard on the bass, crowding the mids and treble in a way the app equaliser only partly fixes. Build quality feels like the price, and the hinge gets named as the long-term weak point โ relevant if you fold them twice a day.

At 235 grams this is the lightest of the three, and weight is precisely what a five-hour flight punishes. Long-session comfort is the point reviewers return to most often with this model.
It is also the only pair here whose cups fold. The hard-shell case that results takes appreciably less room than the Sony's, which is the single clearest separation between the two.
Fifteen minutes of charging returns 2.5 hours โ enough to rescue a flight you boarded with a flat battery.
The drawback: 24 hours is the shortest battery in the group, and the codec support stops at SBC and AAC. There is no aptX Adaptive, no CustomTune and no spatial mode โ those live in the pricier Ultra. This is not the pair you choose on sound specifications.
