Work through them in order of likelihood, not order of effort.
Your body and the room around you block most of the signal
Water absorbs 2.4 GHz energy, and you are mostly water.
A phone in your right back pocket has to push a signal through your torso to reach a left earbud.
That is why dropouts follow a pattern. Same side, same jacket, same walk to the station.
Move the phone to a front pocket or a bag on the same side as the struggling bud.

Stale pairing and multipoint are the two software culprits
Pairing records accumulate. A phone that remembers eleven devices makes worse decisions than one that remembers three.
Delete the earbuds from your phone's Bluetooth list, reset the buds in their case, and pair again from scratch. That single step resolves a large share of "it worked fine last month" complaints.
Multipoint is the other one. Buds connected to a laptop and a phone at once will hand control back and forth.
A silent Teams window or an auto-playing browser tab is enough to trigger a switch.
Turn multipoint off while you test. Turn it back on later if you actually use it.
Firmware matters too, since connection handling is exactly what these updates tend to change.
Open the manufacturer's app and check for an update before you conclude anything.
One bud dropping out is a different problem
If only the left or right side cuts, the two buds are losing each other, not losing the phone.
Many designs still route audio through one primary bud, which then relays to the second.
Sweat, wax, or lint on the charging contacts breaks the sync that keeps the pair aligned.
Wipe both sets of contacts dry, seat the buds firmly, and let them charge together for ten minutes.
If a single side still drops after a full reset and re-pair, that is the point where a warranty claim is reasonable.
